You may be looking at the title of this blog and thinking, “How is that even possible? I need answers to my questions. I can’t help but be totally stressed out until I know!”
While it may not be possible to be totally stress-free while knowing you might be pregnant, there is a way to manage your stress. The best thing you can do is try to make a plan. Here are a few steps to take to help you create your plan:
- Book an appointment with Your Options Medical. You can receive free pregnancy testing, pregnancy options counseling, an ultrasound, and more. By making an appointment for these confidential, no-cost services, you will be able to rest in knowing you have taken the first step to find out if you are even pregnant.
- Talk with a trusted friend. If you do not have a trusted friend you can contact, call or text Your Options. Our staff truly cares about our patients and will listen with empathy and compassion. If you do have a friend to talk to, we encourage you to ensure it is someone who will not tell you what to do or pressure you into any decision but will simply sit, listen and be with you.
- Do your research. If you are looking at all of your pregnancy options, make sure to take your time to read through and process each option. You do not want to make a rushed decision out of fear. We encourage our patients with this quote: “May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.” You can read more on our website and on the blog.
- Take a deep breath. You do not yet know if you are indeed pregnant. Even if you take a pregnancy test at home and it is positive, that is only one indicator. It is possible to have a positive pregnancy test even after a miscarriage or with an ectopic pregnancy. There are multiple reasons for a missed period.
Try not to think too far ahead, and do not panic. When you become anxious reminder yourself that the first step is to find out if you are truly pregnant, and Your Options Medical is here to help you with that. If you get stressed out, breath and remember you are not alone.
