Have you ever found that you planned some awesome New Year’s resolutions for yourself, but then before the end of January you feel like you did not actually accomplish any of your goals? Do not beat yourself up! Most people make New Year’s resolutions with great plans to succeed in keeping up with these resolutions and accomplishing goals. However, sometimes these resolutions end up on the “back burner.”
Here are a few ways to successfully stick with your resolutions this New Year:
- Write Down Your Goals
Get a calendar or planner to write down your goals, be realistic with yourself. Set the bar, but make sure it is attainable. Next, come up with a way to measure your success, and write that down as well. This will help reinforce the information in your mind.
- Get Some Accountability
Share your resolutions with a friend. Ask them to check in with you occasionally to see how you are doing in reaching for and attaining your resolutions. Perhaps offer to be their accountability partner in return. It is a win-win!
- Create a Vision Board
Celebrity achievers like Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres built their success by first envisioning their goals. Creating a bulletin board with images of your goals can be a helpful first step to achievement. Saving up for a car? Put up a photo of the exact car you want, keep a jar by that board, and drop your change or cash in it throughout the year. Working your way up in your job? Put up a picture of the perfect suit you will wear on your first day when you have that dream job. These visuals can help you keep focused and on track in accomplishing your resolutions.
- Commit to Tracking Progress
At the end of each month, track your progress. If you fell short one month, commit to doing better next month. Anything worth working for takes time. You got this.
We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and that the above tips will help you stay faithful to your New Year’s resolutions. We wish you all the best this year!
