Our patients come to us for a variety of reasons. Typically, women and couples who come to us think they might be pregnant and were not expecting to be. We offer medical services including: pregnancy testing, ultrasound, and pregnancy options counseling. We can also provide community resources to help with other needs of our patients including: housing, local hospitals, help for children with special needs, and more.
Some of our patients, sadly, are homeless. We know that finding yourself pregnant unexpectedly can be scary and there are typically financial pressures on a woman when she finds out she’s pregnant. Not having permanent or stable housing can be a major stressor on a pregnant woman. However, we have been able to help patients find emergency shelter, housing for a year, and more. Each of our offices keeps a Resource Manual with listings of places our patients can go for housing.
Women who are pregnant and homeless often experience more health complications, a higher rate of mental health illnesses, and a higher rate of substance abuse. It can be seen then that homelessness during pregnancy possess a threat to the health and safety of a pregnant woman. However, there is hope! Many of our patients are unaware of local emergency shelters, maternity homes, and more. If you or someone you know just found out they are pregnant and homeless, contact Your Options Medical today to receive free help and services. All our services and support are provided at no cost and no insurance is ever needed.
